Narendra Modi will visit Uttar Pradesh on April 28–29 to inaugurate and lay the foundation for infrastructure and development projects worth over ₹42,000 crore, spanning transport, urban services, healthcare, and tourism.
A key highlight of the visit will be the inauguration of the Ganga Expressway, a 594-km access-controlled highway valued at ₹36,230 crore. The six-lane greenfield corridor—expandable to eight lanes—will connect Meerut to Prayagraj across 12 districts, reducing travel time from 10–12 hours to around six hours and significantly improving regional connectivity.
The expressway will also feature a 3.5-km emergency landing strip in Shahjahanpur, adding a strategic defence capability, and is expected to support industrial growth with over 2,600 hectares earmarked for manufacturing and logistics hubs along its route.
In Varanasi on April 28, the Prime Minister will attend a Mahila Sammelan and inaugurate or lay the foundation stone for more than 160 projects worth around ₹6,350 crore. Completed works worth over ₹1,050 crore include road upgrades, railway overbridges, and a 55 MLD sewage treatment plant.
He will also launch rural drinking water schemes under the Jal Jeevan Mission, along with urban and community infrastructure projects such as a synthetic hockey turf, an old-age home, and a solar power facility.
Foundation stones will be laid for projects worth approximately ₹5,300 crore, including a 500-bed super-speciality hospital, water and sewerage works under AMRUT 2.0, tourism upgrades at key ghats, and administrative infrastructure.
Additionally, the Prime Minister will flag off two new Amrit Bharat Express trains connecting Banaras to Pune (Hadapsar) and Ayodhya to Mumbai (Lokmanya Tilak Terminus), aimed at improving affordable long-distance travel. A major rail capacity expansion project between Varanasi and Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Junction, including a rail-cum-road bridge over the Ganga, will also be launched to ease congestion and enhance freight movement.
